I lost AC power while my PIXMA TR8620 was printing. When power returned, I pulled out the paper that was being printed. Then noticed that the screen showed only the word CANON and could not be changed to the menu. The light next to the power button was illuminated.

I tried to power off by holding the power button, then tried by pulling the plug for a minute. Also restarted my computer. The light next to the power button is still on, and the display still says Canon.

The printer is not seen by Windows. It's frozen. The printer ink carriage remains where it was when the power went off.

I assume I need to reset the printer, but can't figure out how to do that.

Try removing the power cord and operating the power button a few times. That will sometimes drain off a stored charge when a power surge occurs.

I just spoke with Canon customer support on the phone. They said that the power outage must have damaged the electronics somehow. My warranty, dated from 2021, is no longer in effect. They offered me a 10% discount and free shipping on a replacement with a new printer of the same model,
