Yes. Cartridges made for an Australian printer model will not work in a US printer model.

Canon does not sell directly on Amazon, and we do not ship outside the United States. If your printer is a US model, you will find upgrading to an Australian model easier if you're living there now.

Hi,

I'm in Australia and ordered the ink and paper combo pack from the amazon Canon shop in the US and am getting the 'cartridge not recognized error' for the two new cartridges that I have installed so far. The error goes away when I reinstall the old cartridge (which is not totally empty) and comes back when installing the new one again.

Are these cartridges region-coded and could that be the problem? Anything else that could cause it?

I swapped the chips on the cartridges with those on the old ones. I get the warnings about them being empty and won't know when they'll actually run out without taking them out, but at least I don't have to throw them out.
