&lt;P&gt;Blurry printing can be caused when the encoder/timing strip inside your PIXMA MX490 is smudged.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Cleaning this will resolve the issue.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;To clean the encoder/timing strip, please follow the steps in this Knowledgebase Article:&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi All,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Replaced the black ink cartridge on my MX490 with a 445XL and it then asked for a print head realignment, first time it's ever asked for this, performed the auto alignment as per the steps requested and I have colour that's clear and crisp but black that's blurry and almost double stacked letters and numbers.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Any ideas?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
