Pixma MG3022 XL - Does the color ink cartridge need to be installed to print?

I received the printer brand new. I usually print with black ink only. Will it print if I just buy and install the black ink cartridge or do I need to have to buy both color and black ink for it to print?

Hi,

You will need to have both cartridges installed otherwise the printer will continue to have the error.

If you have a color ink that is low, you can hold the stop button down on the printer to turn off the low ink error to continue printing. Also, if you are printing from a Windows computer, you can go into the printer driver and set the printer to use the black ink cartridge only.
