PIXMA TR7020 says new color ink cartridge is empty

I have a TR 7020 printer for which I just bought new Canon ink cartridges. My printer uses the Cl-261 XL color and the TR-260 black. When I install them the printer says the color one is either empty or counterfeit. Is there a way to make it work? Thanks for any help.

I assume that they are genuine. I bought them from Amazon a few days ago and they came in a Canon box, The black cartridge appears to be OK and there aren't any notes about it on the printer screen. The color cartridge has what looks to be a Canon sticker on it the same as the cartridges I am replacing.

You can easily find deceptively-packaged off-brand cartridges. Like a box that looks EXACTLY like a Canon box, except it doesn't have the Canon logo....rather the words say "FOR Canon..." or something else. And there are ouright counterfeits to be had.

Always look at the "Ships from.." and "sold by....". They should both be Amazon.
