PIXMA TR4520 shows a * when I press the number 6

I need to enter a Wi-Fi password which is a combination of numbers and lowercase letters. When I press the Tone (star) button, it gives me a lowercase letter option; then pressing Tone button a second time, it gives me an uppercase letter option; then pressing Tone button third time, it gives me a number option but when I enter the No. 6, it enters a star and not the number. I also tried he symbols button but that did not work.
