The Alarm lamp never flashes when I hold the stop button down on my G3270

The light never flashes when I press and hold the STOP button so it's a NO GO!

The alarm light never flashes after pressing and holding the Stop button. So this answer is totally useless.

For the G3270 you can change the auto power settings by using the steps HERE.
