Canon support is done by Canon, not someone else. Emails are from @cits.canon.com, not Gmail. Our support will literally never reach out to you. They are far too busy for that.

The install site (from the leaflet) is https://ij.start.canon

Please note not canon.com, not cannon it's https://ij.start.canon

ALSO, Canon support does not sell any software. We don't do virus scanning or check for malware or any of that nonsense. We support Canon products sold for use in the United States ONLY.

It's June 2026, more than two years since your complaint about receiving spyware or spamware while trying to download a driver direct with Canon. I wanted to report that something very similar happened to me while downloading the Pixma Pro-100 driver for Macbook today. I received a message from "Apple" that a "suspicious charge was pending" and that I needed to call their number. This happened the exact moment I tried to install the driver (which was unsuccessful). I just opted to have a direct USB connection to the printer in order to print. I believe Canon has been aware of the issue and has done nothing to remedy it (at best), or has perhaps facilitated in the spamming knowingly (at worst). Not cool. If you're reading this thread because something similar happened to you, perhaps it's time to start reporting Canon.

If you didn't install the Canon IJ Series driver which would be the one identified as Recommended:

you are most likely using the Apple AirPrint driver, so you are missing the important features of the Pro-100.

What do you see when you go to Printers & Scanners?
