topic PIXMA MG2900 Driver installation from USB device kills USB ports in Desktop Inkjet Printers

I recently installed a driver labeled:

mp68-win-mg2900-1_01-ejs

into my PC (Vista Home Edition 32-bit) from a USB device. The installation was successful and the printer works just fine. However, after the install was complete it seems that NONE of the USB ports work anymore. I tried plugging in three different sticks, only to find that none of them are recognized as valid volumes. These sticks work with other machines, but no longer with the Vista PC. The printer is plugged into one of the ports and it works. Just not anything else. What has happened here?

Ignore this question. I found the culprit, and as it turned out it was my own error.
