topic MG 5320 only uses small Black ink tank in Desktop Inkjet Printers

I have a Pixma MG5320 all in one printer which seems to only be using the small black ink tank for all jobs. The large tank is not being used at all while the small one is almost drained. I have printing set to "Standard" quality and have just been printing black and white copies or Word documents which are all text, no images. Any advice would be appreciated - thanks

Hi GordonN,

In addition to printing in standard print qualty, you will also want to ensure that the Plain Paper media (paper) type option is selected in the printer driver. If another paper type is selected, the printer will use the small black ink along with the other colors to make the text on the page. This is also true if you are performing duplex (two-sided printing); to utilize the large black ink tank, you will need to perform only single-sided printing.

Hope this helps!

This didn't answer your question or issue?
