Why can't I reduce the inner circle for a CD to less than 33mm ?

Hi, I've had my iP4850 for several years without many problems, but trying to cure a problem I just encountered I tried re-installing the driver, I downloaded what I take to be the latest from the Canon web site, because when I tried from the original disc it reported there was a newer version installed and therefore wouldn't install the printer driver.

Now I find 1. The problem isn't cured so it's likely to be elsewhere. And 2. I can no longer reduce the inner circle for printing onto a CD to the 18mm it's been set to for years. The smallest I can get now is 33, i.e. -10mm from the default size. The utility says 17mm is the minimum. I have 'Printable Disc' selected as print medium.

I think I remember having this problem when I first had the printer but don't remember what I did to resolve the problem.
