I bought a new printer, a Canon Pixma MG2522, but I cannot install it to my laptop computer because plugging in the USB does not work.

It is a Windows 11 laptop, if that means anything, but I know the USB has connected properly because there is a sound, and a small green light turns on when I plug it in. I also know the USB cable is working as it is brand new and came with the printer. Can someone please explain to me why the computer cannot detect the new printer??

Thanks in advance!!

Hi,

While the printer is connected and turned on, press the Windows key and the letter R key at the same time on your keyboard. In the run box that appears, you can type in "devicemgmt.msc" and click OK. In device manager, check for any headings for other devices. If you see other devices, you can click the arrow next to and then you can right click and uninstall any connections for the MG2500. You can also check under Universal Serial Bus controllers and then you can right click and uninstall any connections for USB printing support or the MG2500.

Once those have been unsintalled, you can disconnect the printer. You can download and reinstall the setup from the link HERE (Select the MP driver option)and then you can reconnect the printer once the setup asks to connect the printer.

If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to Canon support. The real time feedback of a live technical support call/chat would be very beneficial in this case.

You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.
