I have the same issue. Extremely frustrating, especially when there isn't even an option to simply email customer service...

I feel like Canon's response to this is like, "You bought a cheap printer and now it's taken a crap for good. Call us and we might give you like 20 percent off to buy another cheap printer!!!"

And when I use my account to figure out a support option, this is the error message I get:

Oops!

Sorry, something went wrong and we are unable to complete your transaction. Please log out of your account and log back in and try again or call us @ 866-510-1335 to complete this transaction.

I get Support Code 7800. I cannot clear the code so I can reset the printer. And I cannot access the ink cartridges to change them. How can I clear the code so the buttons will work for the other functions. Unplugging does not work either. It is locked on the error code message.

Untrue

Canon tries to make you pay $19.99 to even SPEAK to technical support to find out why their product has malfunctioned (through no fault of the customer).

Not worth the effort to pursue. This is the second canon printer to crap out on me. Cheao printers die young. Moved on to Epson.

What causes this? I have the same issue. Seems like every 2 yrs I have to replace the stupid thing. It's cheaper than having it serviced. I think it's time for a different brand. These things are being made cheaper & cheaper every year.
