    <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello BOBH.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;First, a test of the printer should be performed.&amp;nbsp; Print a Nozzle Check Pattern to confirm whether the inks are being correctly ejected from the print head nozzles and whether the print head is correctly aligned.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Please follow these steps to do so:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;1.&amp;nbsp; Press the &amp;lt;COPY&amp;gt; button.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;2.&amp;nbsp; Press the &amp;lt;MENU&amp;gt; button.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;3.&amp;nbsp; Press left or right arrow key to select [MAINTENANCE/SETTINGS].&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;4.&amp;nbsp; Press &amp;lt;OK&amp;gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;5.&amp;nbsp; [MAINTENANCE] will appear.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;6.&amp;nbsp; Press &amp;lt;OK&amp;gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;7.&amp;nbsp; [NOZZLE CHECK] will be highlighted.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;8.&amp;nbsp; Press &amp;lt;OK&amp;gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;9.&amp;nbsp; [YES] will be selected.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;10.&amp;nbsp; Press &amp;lt;OK&amp;gt;.&amp;nbsp; The Nozzle Check Pattern will print.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Please check to see if the black grid pattern prints above the color bars on the test printout.&amp;nbsp; If lines are broken or white lines are present, clean the print head.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;To clean the print head, please follow these steps:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;1.&amp;nbsp; Press the &amp;lt;COPY&amp;gt; button.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;2.&amp;nbsp; Press the &amp;lt;MENU&amp;gt; button.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;3.&amp;nbsp; Press left or right arrow key to select [MAINTENANCE/SETTINGS].&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;4.&amp;nbsp; Press &amp;lt;OK&amp;gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;5.&amp;nbsp; [MAINTENANCE] will appear.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;6.&amp;nbsp; Press &amp;lt;OK&amp;gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;7.&amp;nbsp; Use the down arrow to select [DEEP CLEANING].&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;8.&amp;nbsp; Press &amp;lt;OK&amp;gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;9.&amp;nbsp; [YES] will be selected.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;10.&amp;nbsp; Press &amp;lt;OK&amp;gt;.&amp;nbsp; The printer will perform a printhead cleaning.&amp;nbsp; The print head cleaning takes approximately 30 seconds to complete.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Once this has been done, print another Nozzle Check Pattern to see if the print quality is improved.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This didn't answer your question or issue?       <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="line-height: 15px;"&gt;MY MX700 SUDDENLY STOPPED PRINTING OR COPYING IN GRAY SCALE. I am using an IMAC with OSX 10.8.2 and&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN style="line-height: 15px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; have a usb connection between the printer and computer. So far I have replaced the "black" cartridge" Performed a cold start on the computer, and then the printer. I can print or copy in color but not in black. The scanner seems ok.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I have the same issue - sort of. I hope you can assist me. I have a Pixma MG5400. I use both a Mac Book Pro and a iMac. I had set up on the Mac Book Pro and had set up a Print in Grayscale as my primary way of printing. When I got my iMac, the printer only shows grayscale but will only print in either color or black and white. The black and white even uses a lot of ink. It shows grayscale as an option, but does not recognize it and will print in color. Help! and Thank you.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
