Hi there!

I've owned a Canon iP8720 for 3 or 4 years, and I love it. Over the last few weeks, I noticed the black was printing spotty, but I didn't have time to mess with it. Finally, it stopped printing black altogether. I cleaned the printhead via the settings, did a deep clean, and even removed the printhead and cleaned it by hand: no luck, still only printing colors.

I figured it had just worn out, so I bought a new one. I just installed it, and it is ONLY printing black. No colors.

I am using Canon brand cartridges. I've updated the drivers. I'm at a total loss of what to do now. Anyone?

I forgot to mention that I've tried printing from both a Mac and PC. And I've been printing test pages.

If perform a cleaning and deep cleaning did not resolve the issue and the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.
