TR8620a on Mac - Envelopes print backward

Mac Monterey, using a new Canon TR8620a inkjet printer.
Printer has n icon showing how to insert an envelope in the rear feeder.
I'm printing an envelope from the Contacts app.
Print dialog shows how the envelope will print.
Addresses print upside-down on the envelope. (They print on the front, not the back, but upside down.)
The output needs to be rotated 180 degrees.
The print dialog Layout section has a checkbox "Reverse page orientation"'I can check this box, and save the setup as a Preset. And in the preset display, the "On" or "Off" value does change.
But it has NO effect. Whether it is on or off, the envelope prints upside-down.
(There's another checkbox near there that says "Flip horizontally" but that is not helpful. It causes the text to be reversed.)

Yes, I am following the instructions correctly.

Regardless of whether I load the envelope correctly or not, the "Reverse page orientation" option on the print dialog should reverse the output. Something is not working either in the Mac print dialog, or in Canon's printer-specific plugin for the Mac print dialog. The check box has no effect. The Apple forum says to ask Canon's support...
