      <description>&lt;P&gt;I was notified that I got a reply about this, but was unable to view the reply, so I deleted my original post, and am reposting.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I tried 4 times to get my new printer to install. It kept going from "printer detected" to "printer not detected, check connection". I tried every suggestion in the guide, as well as trying multiple USB ports and 2 different USB cables.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This is driving me nuts! Help!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello TLD110166,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If the setup is not detecting the printer, it could be caused by a poor connection or a problem with the computer understanding the USB connection for the printer. In this situation I would suggest checking in your computer's device manager for the printer connection.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;To open device manager, you can press the Windows key and the letter R key on your keyboard at the same time. In the run box that appears, you can type in devmgmt.msc and then click ok.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;You can check for the printer by clicking on the option for imaging devices and&amp;nbsp;Universal Serial Bus Controllers that show up in the device manager list.&amp;nbsp;If the printer does not show up under Imaging Devices or Universal Serial Bus Controllers, the computer is not seeing a connection with that cable.&amp;nbsp;You can try a different USB cable to see if it shows up.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If the 2522 shows up, you can right click and uninstall any connections that you see for the printer. After Uninstalling the connections, you can turn any security software off on your computer and your can try disconnecting the USB and trying the install again.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Did this answer your question?       <description>&lt;P&gt;I tried this solution but it failed.&amp;nbsp; The installation wizard does not detect the computer until I've turned the printer on and off then it seemingly starts the install process.&amp;nbsp; After a few minutes the printer is undetected again, when I click cancel it tells me the MP drivers are not installed.&amp;nbsp; Checking the Apps on my computer shows the MP drivers installed.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;The old one it was supposed to replace was a Canon and it gave good service but if I get a Canon right now it won't be in the 2500 series.&amp;nbsp; I believe it's a hardware issue as the program won't detect the printer unless the printer is turned on and off.&amp;nbsp; Something interrupts the commo between the program and the printer and prevents the printer from linking with the installed MP driver.&amp;nbsp; The prices on these printers has more than doubled since the purchase of my previous one.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;You have windows 10 so it may not be the computer anyway.&amp;nbsp; Have you checked the USB controllers under the device manager?&amp;nbsp; Right click the start button at bottom left and left click the device manager, the USB controllers are at the bottom.&amp;nbsp; Left click that to get a list of the devices connected to your computer through USB.&amp;nbsp; Ensure that the HP shows on one of the generics and if not, the HP may have actually developed a fault.&amp;nbsp; I'd then try downloading the appropriate drivers from the HP site and try to reconnect.&amp;nbsp; If that doesn't solve it you have to consider either the printer or the computer because a new USB driver involves a new motherboard.&amp;nbsp; Pretty pricey anyway and only a true Geek would be comfortable with such an operation.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If you have an I5 or later intel processor you probably don't need a new computer depending on what you use it for.&amp;nbsp; The cost of any new coming Operating System after W10 would then justify the expense.&amp;nbsp; Even then if you have a usable Tower the OS would be cheaper, much cheaper depending on which tower you decide to purchase.&amp;nbsp; You would then still be facing the expense of a new printer after all.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;My best wishes to a fellow sufferer of what's looking like a factory run of substandard Canon Printers.&amp;nbsp; Merry Christmas&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I know this is extremely late, but I have an answer for how to fix this for anyone who is looking for an answer in 2021. Like me, you probably plugged the printer in to the computer and turned it on before trying to install the drivers, I know I did! And... that was the problem. So here's how to fix it:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;1. Disconnect the printer from your computer and turn it off.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2. Uninstall everything. Go to Printers in settings and Remove the printer. Uninstall every driver you've tried to install, any of the secondary programs, etc. Get rid of all of it.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3. Restart your computer just to make sure everything is gone.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Now we do it "right".&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;1. DO NOT CONNECT THE PRINTER TO THE COMPUTER.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2. Click on the install package and install the drivers and secondary programs you want.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3. ONCE the install program asks you to connect and turn it on, NOW you can connect it.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;4. The install program will now work properly and you will swiftly be done with the setup process.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

It appears to be stuck on when the software is registering with the printer itself and then stops after 5min. I know this is an older model, but I did buy it brand new.
