How to scan from TR8520 PIXMA on Chrome OS

According to this article, I should be able to scan from my TR8520 on my Chromebook but in Chrome OS Settings | Scan, it doesn't detect my printer/scanner. The article doesn't seem to address that step in detail, assumes the printer/scanner just shows up. I do have the TR8520 set up as a printer (the Chromebook sees it on the network).
