PIXMA MG2900 SERIES On and Alarm buttons flashing 7 times

Hello -

I have a Canon Pixma mg2900 series. Yes I know it is old. But truly we don't print much so haven't used it much.

I just replaced the color and black fine cartridges PG-245XL but now getting the ON and Alarm buttons flashing simultaneously 7 times. Which I guess means I need to contact customer support.

Does anyone know if this can be repaired or should I just bite the bullet and get a new printer? If so, I want to get one where I can use the PG-245XL cartridges I just opened.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. . . . JoAnn

Hi,

Based on the error code, it would be more cost effective to replace the printer. You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. They will be also be able to advise you of what model printers would use that type of ink cartridge.
