Canon BJC 5500

We have a Canon BJC 5500 A3 size printer which is 15 years old and for which we use for colour printing for our music books. visit: [link removed per forum guidelines]

The computer operating the printer is Windows XP OS which also operates our HP dn laserjet printer for our music books with no problems.

The Canon has not been used to its fullest extent, we use it for letter headings, colour pictures etc.

When I switch on the printer the online light blinks, the black cartridge is shown on the LCD and that is it.

I cannot print a test page and there is nothing else shown on the LCD of the printer.

The green locking device locks the cartridge in place, (and yes I have tried with a new black tank!) however it seems to be loose and there is a part that seems to be broken (please see pictures attached).

Have tried Canon UK who are not at all helpful, we cannot seem to get it serviced and we cannot get working plans for the printhead and parts.

Please can someone help, would appreciate any advice/information given.
