Hi,

It sounds like the USB circuit was damage and would need service. Please be advised Canon does not have any repair sites and it would need to be taken to a local electronic repair shop in your are.

It may cost more to repair the printer than to replace it and because of this, you qualify for the Canon Upgrade Program.

This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please the Canon Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.

Did this answer your question?

Thanks for the reply to my question Danny. Here are the specifics:

My IP4700 was connected to my 2007 iMac (OS 10.11.6) when a peripheral (subwoofer) shorted and fried 2 of the iMac's 3 USB ports. I replaced the logic board on the iMac so now all 3 USBs are functioning properly. When I try to connect the IP4700 to the iMac I get nothing in the printer selection window. Another Canon printer (IX7000) that was not connected at the time of the short connects and works fine. What I need to know is if the USB circuit on the IP4700 is kaput and if it can be repaired. Alas! I fear the worst as I really like the print quality of the IP4700 and hate to lose this printer! Thanks for any help...
