Thank you very much for responding, although I find the situation concerning.

what is one to do when the error code kicks in? Find a big box and ship the machine back for repairs or just buy new and discard the old.

Hi,

Canon does not have any manuals or guides on how to open the printer to reach the waste ink pads. When the pads are close to fully saturated an error code will appear on the printer.

Did this answer your question?

Hi,

It will depend if the printer is in warranty or not. If the printer is in warranty, a replacement can be sent. If the printer is out of warranty, you do have the option to take the printer to any local electronic repair shops than can service printers.

You would also, qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please the Canon Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.

Did this answer your question?

The issue with me is that I have the capability to deal with virtually all electronic equipment as well as mechanical. Lack of information obviously is not helpful from Canon/
