    <description>&lt;P&gt;I've had scanning problems with my Canon MF4350d printer ever since I installed Windows 8 (now 8.1) last winter. &amp;nbsp;The only way I can get theprinter to scan is by:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp; 1. &amp;nbsp;Disconnect the cable from printer&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp; 2. &amp;nbsp;Uninstall the Toolbox and printer drivers&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp; 3. &amp;nbsp;Turn off and restart my PC&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp; 4. &amp;nbsp;Reinstall&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;the Toolbox and printer drivers&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp; 5. &amp;nbsp;Turn off and r&lt;SPAN&gt;estart my PC&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp; 6. &amp;nbsp;Reconnect the cable to printer&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The scanner works once and only once after I do this. &amp;nbsp;Thereafter, either I get an error message "Cannot communicate with scanner" or the computer hangs up and the Task Manager tells me that the MF Toolbox is not responding. &amp;nbsp;I can't scan another docuement without undertaking the 6-step procedure outlined above.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This is driving me nuts. &amp;nbsp;Any solutions/ideas out there? &amp;nbsp;Any help will be much appreciated. &amp;nbsp;Thanks.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

Open the&lt;SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Windows&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;desktop.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2. Right click on the MF Toolbox icon and click properties.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;IMG src="http://kbsupport.cusa.canon.com/system/storage/1/kb/attachments/embedded/15235_image_1.gif" height="323" border="0" width="248" /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3.       <description>&lt;P&gt;By golly your solution appears to be working, although I performed the procedure I outlined in my initial question this morning and had the scanner working then. &amp;nbsp;But it has never before worked 5 hours later. &amp;nbsp;I have high hopes for tomorrow. &amp;nbsp;And if it's fixed (as it appears to be), I am forever in your debt. &amp;nbsp;This issue has been driving me half crazy for 7 months.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Many, many thanks Patrice!&lt;/P&gt;</description>
