Got an CAnon mp610 Had it always connected directly to computer and could print and scan , but connected it now via usb to router. Now i can still print but get message "cannot communicate with scanner' when i try to use MP Navigator.

Hi johnv,

The PIXMA MP610 is not a wireless printer, so it would need to be directly connected via USB to use its scanning functionality. The unit was not intended to be used wirelessly. We regret any inconvenience this may cause for you.
