I am replying to my own post. It appears that the knock off ink is just fine. The printer erroneously did not report that the ink level was too low on my large black cartridge. Fixed!

I have a Canon MX920 printer. Recently reinstalled drivers. I replaced a Canon ink cartridge with a "knock-off" which was instantly recognized. All ink levels look good on the printer read-out. Documents are blank when printing function is completed. What can be the problem? If the problem was with the cartridge - why wouldn't that problem be recognized? Thank you -
