Problem solved! With a little more patience and a little more jiggling back and forth the cover slipped into place. I did a scan operation afterward and found everything was back to normal. Thanks to all for your attention anyway.

I inadvertently caused my mx920 printer to fall off the 9 inch high platform it was on. The cover popped out of the socket on the right hand side and I can't get it to pop back in again so there is a 3/4 inch or so air gap on the right hand side. Left hand side looks OK. . Nothing looks damaged. There must be a certain way of doing this but I haven't found it yet. Please help. Thank you.
