Hello,

I have two questions: 1) Can I print using black ink only when my color cartridge is depleted? 2) Can I replace my color cartridge with a black ink cartridge? I have a Pixma MP280.

Hi mdogg16,

The PIXMA MP280 requires both a color and black ink cartridge be installed in the printer in order to print; a black ink cartridge cannot be used in the color ink cartridge slot. Should the color ink cartridge run out of ink, you can set the printer to print using only the black ink cartridge in the unit from within the printer driver. To do this, please follow the steps shown here if using a Windows computer, or here if using a Mac. Hope this helps!
