Pixima 5720 making horrible smudges

For some reason , my printer is smudging grey/black ink patches for seemingly no reason on the sides and top of images. It's been really bad with full page prints, but smaller prints it can be remidied by rotating the images in different ways before printing

Hi Pogocoop,

In order to better assist you, allow me to ask a couple questions:

What size and type of paper are you using?
Do you get the same effect when printing from a different program, like Easy-PhotoPrint?
Do you get the same effect when making a photocopy?
