What scanner software to use with MG5550?

I've installed all of the drivers and software offered in the driver downloads, and the scanner can't find a suitable program to post the scanned image to.

I've downloaded the most recent version of the legacy MPX Navigator; but that doesn't support the MG5550' even though the program tries to connect when the scan tries to output to the PC

Surely there must be a free utility program that will talk to the MG5550 so it will receive the ilmage being posted to the PC?
