Can I use two black cartridges instead of color on Pixma MX492

I don't need to print in color. Can i use only the black cartridge? How do i set the printer to default to BLACK only?

Hi fset,

A black and a color ink cartridge must be installed in your PIXMA MX492 in order to use your PIXMA MX492.

To print with the black cartridge only, please follow these steps:

1. Click on Start, and then click on Control Panel.

2. Click on Printers and Faxes.

3. Right click the Canon MX490 series Printer and left click on Properties.

4. Click on the Maintenance tab at the top.

5. Click on the Ink Cartridge Settings button.

6. Change to Black Only.

7. Click OK.

The PIXMA MX492 will only print from the black cartridge.
