    <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi Kstanton,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks for your question! The two black inks are used for different purposes and are not intended as backups to each other. Also, ink is used to keep the print head cool and prevent damage. As such, every ink is required to be inserted, and with enough ink to not be classified as 'empty,' in order to use the printer for&amp;nbsp;any function.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I have the pixma mg 5520...Do I have to have both black ink cartridges in the prnter in order for it to work? I have the large one in but not the smaller one. &amp;nbsp;Is there anyway to by pass using the smaller one? I can't get rid of the supord code 1660 screen.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
