THanks Michael, Im connected with a USB cable and I'd been scanning fine and then it suddenly began giving the error message. This has happened several times previously and when it started working again there was no obvious event correlated to it beginning to work right other than a laptop restart, which didnt work this time

I have an MG2500 printer. I was scanning just fine with the IJ Scan Utility and then I started getting an error message "Can not communicate with scanner" Code 2, 156, 50. The printer is on, and connected to my laptop by USB. I restarted the laptop, did a power cycle with the printer, checked firewall settings, disconnected the cable and reconnected it, still I cant scan.

Any suggestions?

Hello.

Check to make sure that the printer is connected directly to your computer via USB. Avoid using any USB hubs or extension devices to make the connection.

If the scanning error continues to persist, find more help at Contact Us.
