Soda inside the scanner part of Pixma 2520. How much damage would this do?

My son spilled soda all over the table and some go onto the printer. It went inside the scanner area a tiny bit pooled in the lower left hand corner. How much damage will this do if any?

You can try cleaning the platen glass of the printer with a lint-free cloth and water or window cleaner to remove as much of the soda as possible. It is difficult to say how much of an effect the soda will have without having the unit looked at physically; we recommend having the unit serviced if a significant amount of soda was spilled and is unable to be removed from the printer.
