8 -5 x 11 print has white edge

I had a message a few weeks ago and couldn't really make heads or tails of it. I have used about 12 printers and always got what I wanted, essentially 8x10 with no cropping. Now I have a Canon ip7220 and 8-5-11 paper. I put paper in A4 tray which seemed correct and first the printer said there was no paper so I pulled tray out and in and then it worked.

Paper came out beautifully except for a slim white line on the left-hand side.

I don't want to crop, as I've never really had to crop for the last 35 years. How can I print a photo that doesn't have white edges?

It used to be so easy. Or am I just not with it?
