I'm trying to set the preferences on my MG5420 to always print from the plain paper tray.

Currently if I print a photo from my iPad (not through the Canon app) the printer wants to print from photo paper. I'm trying to print screenshots and other photos directly to plain paper. Is there a way to change the settings on my printer so that the default for all printing is 8 1/2" x 11" plain paper?

Hello.

The options from mobile platforms such as iOS are limited. If your app does not have the ability to specify the size and media type before printing, you will have to print from a normal Windows or Mac OSX computer to specify the settings before printing.

I'd like to suggest, if possible, that you add that funcionality to your iOS app in the future. Even better would be if you could make that a default choice available on the printer itself, and bypass the app. Again, if it's possible.
