    <description>&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;I have the same printer and I'm a geek with multiple printers and computers so I hate throwing stuff away. I looked at all the answers plus all the help info and I don't have a menu button so many of the answers did not work for me. I was going to throw it out and since I did not give a dam I tried man handling it. All the power on / off / pull plug / hit menu buttons did nothing at.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;I did the following with it powered on and the ink access cover up which centers the cartridges.&amp;nbsp; I found out that first you pull out all of the cartridges and put them aside. Then you grab the front of the cartridge holder and start pulling forward from the right side which is easy to get to. What happens is the assembly is spring loaded down in back. It will pop up in the back on the spring lock. You might have to lift it in back with your finger because that snap lock is strong. Then push the assembly "forcefully" to the right just enough so you can pull up the left side of the cartridge holder up on it's spring lock. Part of the front of the printer frame gets in the way which is why I had to force the cartridge assembly to the right to clear the obsticle. Then push both sides back in at the same time and it snaps back down reseating itself. I put the cartridges back in and it ran fine and gave me the full touch screen menu and all ink levels. My suspicion is that replacing cartridges over and over moves that assembly either out of position or makes the sensor not read properly.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I have never had any issues with this printer until now. It wont let me do anything and says I need to Install the Correct Print Head. It was bought with all origional pieces? What do I need to do?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I seen someone else post about this issue and I followed there guidlines but they had a slightly different printer and didnt have the same interior as mine.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I restarted the printer, took out all the ink cartridges as what was said to do and looked for the grey lever they were talking about but I dont think mine has one?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Any way the printer is still on support code 1403 so someone please help!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Just got this same error as well.&amp;nbsp; If you're not seeing a lot on the forum, it's because this problem apparently has a much more popular error code on other models - U052 - see &lt;A href="https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Printer-Multifunction-Support/Call-to-Arms-for-the-dreaded-U052-Wrong-Printhead-Error/m-p/65759#M7488" target="_blank"&gt;https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Printer-Multifunction-Support/Call-to-Arms-for-the-dreaded-U052-Wrong-Printhead-Error/m-p/65759#M7488&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;From what it sounds, you can try re-seating your print head, but for most people (including myself) it simply does not work.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Note that there was a class action lawsuit brought against Canon in 2015 on this matter, which they settled out of court.&amp;nbsp; Not sure if there's any recourse for those of us more recently experiencing the issue.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>I agree this procedure does not solve the error code. I have tried it repeatedly. Online there is commentary that there is something else going on here.. Come on Canon, if there is a software issue please why don't you tell people rather than just burying it and hoping we'll shut up and buy another printer. This is the second canon printer this has happened with in a year. I won't be buying another canon product.</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I've just had the same issue too, error code 1403,&amp;nbsp;tried all the fixes and all Canon can say is send your&amp;nbsp;printer to your local sevrice depo for servicing, which will cost more than buying a new printer!&amp;nbsp;It seems incredible that I now need to bin and replace a perfectly good printer because it has one minor error which should be fixable! I could try buying a new printhead from China but even that costs half the price of a new printer, so a big risk if it doesn't work, on Amazon a new printhead costs more than a new printer which I really don't understand, this whole errror code 1403 kiss of death fiasco is unacceptable but Canon really don't seem to care!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;MX922 to the list! Error 1403 "The type of print head is incorect. Install the correct print head" happened when I was printing!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I took other head from different mx922 (because I have seven of them!) and printer works just fine, it means the old head is dead. Just replace it - and your printer will work again! No problem at all, right Canon? Oh wait... whole new printer costs $70 on amazon, and just one printhead - $75. Hey, Canon where I can buy new printhead for $10? What?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;PS I bought that printer 15 months ago&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Never Canon Again!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I too fell vitim to this code.&amp;nbsp; I went through all the steps mentioned a gazillion times on dozens of threads.&amp;nbsp; When that didn't work I ordered a new printhead (QY6-0082) and still have the 1403 error code.&amp;nbsp; This is an issue that has been going on for over 4 years.&amp;nbsp; Canon has settled on class action law suite in 2015, but has done NOTHING to fix the problem.&amp;nbsp; People are still dealing with it 3 years later.&amp;nbsp; I've started writing letters to the company, consumer groups, and the state consumer protection agency.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;This is the last Canon I will ever buy.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I have a MG7550 which was working perfectly until suddenly this 1403 message came up so I couldn't do anything with the machine. Couldn't use the scanner or copier. Tried all the usual stuff removing cartridges, cleaning the electrics on the cartridges, turning on and off blah blah. Nothing. Then I tried turning the machine on but before it finished going into printing mode with all the whirring and clicking that involves, I got to the start up screen and chose &lt;STRONG&gt;set up,&lt;/STRONG&gt; &lt;STRONG&gt;maintenance,&lt;/STRONG&gt; &lt;STRONG&gt;clean or adjust device,&lt;/STRONG&gt; then &lt;STRONG&gt;auto print head alignment.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&amp;nbsp; The display was indicating the levels of the ink on all the cartridges so I figured out that that it had decided it did recognise them after all!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Anyway after it had done the print head alignment I did some normal printing and it worked fine.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;No more error message.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;WeeHAH!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;It does not allow us to get to maintenance on the MX922 ... or settings while warming up ... just does it's thing, goes to code ... and you're stuck.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

Here is a summary what you need to try if you got Error 1403 on Canon MX922:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;0) Put few pages of paper&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;1) Connect power cord, turn the printer on&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2) Start to&amp;nbsp;click continuously on "Menu" button (while printer is booting)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3) When printer turned on - you will be in that Menu, than go to&amp;nbsp;Maintenance -&amp;gt; Auto Head Alignment&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;4) It will take 5-10 min and you Done!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I hope it will help you!&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Now my mx922 is working fine! Thanks!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;UPDATE: After ~400 pages I got the same error again.
