MX870 Scanner will not send to PC from the front panel.

I have an MX870 multifunction printer/scanner connected via USB to my iMac which is running OS 10.11.1. The front panel of the printer will not communicate with the MAC. It has worked in the past and only recently stopped working. I have reinstalled all appropriate Canon software and made sure that the "scan the images using the operation panel of the scanner" is checked in the IJ Network Scanner icon in the menu bar. Any suggestions? Thank you!

My MX870 will not send to my pc. All displays are normal. When I hit scan, it scans but nothing comes up on the pc. I am running a MAc with OS X El Capitan !0.11.6 version. Problem started yesturday. Please help.
