Canon Pixma MX334 - Error: Cannot Communicate with scanner

I have printed a test page from the printer itself (network configuration page), but when I try to scan or print through the computer (mac os), I receove the follwoing error message:

Cannot communicate with the scanner for these reasons:

-scanner is turned off

-USB cable is disconnected

Pleasecheck and try again.

Scanner driver will be closed.

THe scanner is turned on and the USB cable is connected.

I am using a MAC.

I have unistalled the software and reinstalled. Its the same error message.

Please help.
