IP4700 printing too light/not at all

I have a Canon ip4700 that has enough ink and a nozzle check looks fine. But when I try to print Word documents (have not tried any non-Microsoft docs), most of it does not print. There are a few very faint lines but most of it doesn't print. The document is mostly black and the black ink cartridge is newish. I do have some orange on the page but that is also very faint.

I would continue to run tests but the nozzle check is first and that looks great. Any ideas?

In order to better assist you, allow me to ask a couple questions:

Do you get the same effect when printing from other programs?
Which version of Windows or Macintosh are you using?
