I have been using a Canon Pixma iP7220 printer in my classroom for years with great success. Student love printing to it because they get great color images and I can make quick extra printouts without leaving my room. When I hooked it up again for the start of this school year and tested it, I got horrible double images and shadow text. I tried running the print aligner, but that didn't do anything. Help!

Hi TeacherCreature,

Based on your description of the issue, it would appear as though the encoder/timing strip is dirty and would require cleaning.

To do tihs, please follow the steps provided in the below link. You can ignore the model number on that page, the steps are similar for your iP7220:

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART171023

After a few cleanings, if the issue persists, your iP7220 would require service.

You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET). If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8am to Midnight. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
