I've used my PIXMA MG5400 trouble free for years. I am using it with a Mac running OSX 10.10.2. Two days ago it started showing an error 6000. I checked for paper jams,, opened all trays and checked for problems, powered off and on both with the on button and by unplugging the power and waiting. I removed the rear cover and gray guide and saw no jams in there.

The printhead is on the left side and wil not come to center when the front cover is opened. We had a power outage a couple of days ago and I am thinking it was related to that.

Can the error be reset or will I have to buy a new printer?

Hi nyccase,

Servicing would mean having the unit looked at by a service facility or replaced if under warranty. We also have other options available to you if your printer is outside of the warranty period. Should your printer require servicing, please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.
