MX450 Unable to Print Labels

I am attempting to print labels. But all I get is an error messages indicating that I'm out of paper, even though I have about 40 sheets of standard printer paper with the one sheet of adhesive label paper on top (upside down). The triangular light comes on and the printer does nothing. I am using Open Office using a template for 10 labels (2 column of 5) on which I've pasted various symbols. I can't figure out what settings to change and don't see any options for this type of paper. or card stock. And the manual doesn't even mention printing labels. So I am checking here to see if others have experienced this problem and what the solution is.

Can you print the labels on plain paper? If so, chances are the label stock is too thick.

The labels print out perfectly on plain paper. The printer tolerates 24# card stock with jamming or other errors. The adhesive label paper appears to be thinner than the card stock , which I've used for greeting cards. And I have printed address labels without any problem. And the error message is that the printer is out of paper, not that there is a jam. I am still confused as to how to indicate that I am using special paper.. The printer generally works very well. But this frustrating. I am simply trying to create label to put.on storage boxes and plastic containers and these sheets looked like the perfect choice.

Came up with a solution of sorts. Found a full page size label and printed all labels on one adhesive sheet. So I just have to cut the labels out individually. Bought a supply of assorted sheets of labels from an online surplus site a year ago and it contained a couple sheets that were just one big adhesive label. Weird, but it worked. Have no idea why the 10 label sheet caused problems. I was slightly thicker, but not any thicker than card stock.

Hi joelee52,

You can set the prevent paper abrasion setting on the printer to see if this will allow the paper to feed. Adjusting the setting to prevent paper abrasion will widen the clearance between the print head and the loaded paper. To do this, press the SETUP button on the operation panel of the printer, then select DEVICE SETTINGS, then PRINT SETTING and set the PREVENT ABRASION setting to ON. Once you have finished printing the labels, please be sure to turn the prevent abrasion setting back to OFF.
