ip4300 will not print red - prints brown instead

Trying to print photoshop document and red prints as brown. Have tried both RGB and CMYK modes.

This is making me crazy: the printer test page looks good, but will not print red in photoshop, PDF, or PNG. I've tried everything found in google search plus many other ideas. Have tried printing red as PDF and as an Apple Pages file. Same result.

the image below shows at left the printer test page, at right a document with 9 boxes, each (supposed to be) a different color red.

Hellow Awdsgn.

The nozzle check you provided shows the printer is producing colors correctly, per the information sent to it by the computer.

If you're using a laptop, or a computer with a screen similiar to a laptop, you may need to do a simple monitor calibration; most current graphics cards have such a function built in.

Once you adjust the monitor to correctly display colors, do not change the angle of viewing or the color/brightness/contrast values, as this will skew your display away from a true display of colors. Instead, adjust the colors of the original through which you're printing.

You may also wish to minimize the number of times the ICC profile is changed during the production or editing of the images or colors, as each change in ICC profile may warp the color information.

don't think this is a monitor color calibration issue. This photo shows that in both a color gradient that goes from 100% magenta to 100% yellow, neither yellow nor magenta print properly (left sample)

the right sample is a color bar set to 100% yellow.

it appears that the printer is adding black to the colors.

Please open the cover to your printer.

Please verify that the following ink tanks are installed (from left to right):

Canon CLI-8Bk Black

Canon PGI-5Bk Black

Canon CLI-8Y Yellow

Canon CLI-8M Magenta

Canon CLI-8C Cyan

Please make sure that you are not using PM or PC ink tanks.

Are all of the ink tanks being used in your iP4300 genuine Canon ink tanks?

In your prigianl post, you stated that you are using macOS v10.13.

The PIXMA iP4300 has not been supported since Mac OSX v10.8. Because the ink tanks being used are correct and the nozzle check prints as it should, we know that your PIXMA iP4300 is working correctly.
