Windows 8.1 says "cannot communicate with the printer". The Printer in the control panel is Canon MX920 WS. What is WS???

Hello udornf4,

WS stands for Web Services on devices for printing, this service is provided by Microsoft. Uninstalling / reinstalling the printer driver should install the correct Printer driver.

How to correctly "install the correct Pinter driver"? Be clear and common.

Hi,

Please click HERE to open the support page for your Canon printer. Once the page opens, select the drivers and download tab.

You will want to download and install the first option listed which is MX920 series MP Drivers Ver.1.01. This will install the Canon printer driver on your computer.
