Pixma MP600 Black ink streaky/unaligned when printing but not when copying

Hi all,

My Pixma MP600 is playing up. When copying all seems fine, however when printing the black ink is clearly streaky and unaligned. I've never understood the difference between the two black cartridges, or is this a software issue? I have replaced both black cartridges, in any case, but no difference. If there is not a solution to this I will replace the printer quite soon.

Thanks in advance if anyone knows of anything that might shed light/help.
