    <description>&lt;P&gt;I have a 8580. Every since installing Windows 8.1 on my Surface Pro, I cannot wirelessly scan as I once could. The MF toolbox has the following error: "Cannot communicate with scanner. The cable may be disconnected or the scanner turned off. Check the scanner status and try again. Scanner driver will be terminated".&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;My computer and the printer are wirelessly connected. On the printer I am using remote scan prior to opening the MF toolbox. I have tried installing all of the latest drivers and software off the Canon website with no luck.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi m_heistand.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Please&amp;nbsp;verify that the MF8580 is registered in the MF Network Scan Utility by following the instructions below:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Open the system tray in the bottom-right corner of the desktop and click the blue scanner icon.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Next, select the check box for the MF8500 series, and then click [OK].&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Place the machine in [Remote Scanner] mode and scan a document using the MF Toolbox.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;P&gt;If you are still unable to scan after the machine is registered in the scan utility,&amp;nbsp;we recommend that you&amp;nbsp;contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).&lt;/P&gt;</description>
