Can the fax in the MX860 be set up using MagicJack phone service? If so, what connections need to be made and what is the set up procedure.

Hi sshouse2,

Since fax technology is analog based, using a fax machine over a digital service line like MagicJack could cause issues. Reception and transmission might be interrupted by digital interference on the line. We suggest testing the fax reception and transmission first to see if you are experiencing any interference with the basic fax function. If the quality of your fax reception is poor or if you receive transmission errors, here is one step you can try:

Press the FAX button, then press the <Menu> button on your printer .

Select Settings > Device settings > FAX settings > Transmission settings > ECM TX

Select OFF, then press the OK button.

Repeat these steps to turn off the ECM RX as well.

When connecting your fax, the process is similar to connecting with a standard phone line. Plug the line from your MagicJack to the L port on the back of the printer. Press the Hook button to check for a dial tone.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to Contact Us!
