The PIXMA MP480 is not a wireless printer, so it would need to be directly connected via USB. The unit was not intended to be used wirelessly. We regret any inconvenience this may cause for you.

I had a Canon Pixma MX850 which like the MP480 is not a wireless printer, but I was able to connect the printer to my modem with an ethernet cable, which eventually enabled the printer to be on my network. After that, I could print and scan wirelessly from my laptop to the MX850. So, considering that, couldn't the MP480 be set up to do the same?
