PIXMA MG2400 Won't print

I have just upgraded from and old 240 to a MG2400, plugged in to all the same spots loaded up the install disc but it won't print a thing

Changed the USB connector, re-loaded the software,changed to different USB spots....nothing, when you disconnect the USB cable the printer recognizes it has been disconnected

all the test prints end up in a failed list , windows diagnostic tells me its something to do with USB 3 & USB 2 compatibility or lack of ...is this true??
