Unable to Scan without Sizing Error

Canon MX430 on my Mac OSX v 10.7.5 cannot print without at error with the text "Scanning cannot be performed unless the size is increased to 4 x 4 mm (0.16 x 0.16 inches).". I have changed the size but the error keeps popping up. How to fix?

Hi douglasfir,

A scanning program is included with the printer programs, and may already be installed on the computer.

Press the Search icon in the upper right of your screen.
Type "IJ Scan Utility" in the search box.
Open IJ Scan Utility.
Place your original.
Press either the "Photo" or "Document" button.

The image should be sized normally.
